What social and cultural trends can we expect to see emerging in India

1. A generation that questions

Our parents generation was brought up information that was fed to them through government controlled mechanism. That is why most of them have become socialists, respect people like Nehru and so on. However with the rise of social media an several other information channels we receive information that we would have have accessed otherwise, hence we will teach our children to be lot more skeptical about everything. 

As a result of this we will see that the political discourse in the country will be deeply affected starting from the urban areas. On longer run Indian society will move from supporting socialism to capitalism. 

2. Changing face of religion

As a corollary to point 1, religious hold on society will loosen. As people start questioning religion, those who control religion will be frustrated. We are already seeing that trend. We see that khaps being coming on television making nonsensical claims, Islamic clerics issuing idiotic fatwahs and so on. 

3. Demographic Discount

Because of India's massive failure to upgrade it's education sector, the demographic dividend will be converted to demographic discount. There will be many young people, ill educated and unable to get themselves a good job. They will flock to cities in order to find a better livelihood but will not manage to get a good quality of life. This will increase crime rates. 

4. Marriage System is about to get some shocks

India's marriage system is very different from the world. This is about to get some real kick in ass in coming few years. We will see an unprecedented growth in divorce, infidelity, live in relationships and so on. This will eventually bring sanity to the process in the longer run. Parents will tend to interfere less in their children's marriage plans/life. 

5. Savings will reduce and the elderly will face financial crisis

Past generation got a lot of money when they retired in their government service through PF and other investments. However with the current generation there will be not pension, most of the saving will go in buying inflated real estate and when they retire they will not have enough money to retain the same lifestyle as they followed while working. 

Even though Indian real estate had inflation of around 20% for last few years on the longer run this is going to saturate and the money we invest today in real estate will not have same value in next 20 years.
