They Gave 100 Cameras To The Homeless of London – The Results Were Amazing

100 disposable Fujifilm cameras have been distributed to the homeless in London, as part of the UK based initiative, Cafe Art, which allows homeless people to express themselves through photography and art. The Royal Photographic Society has provided the basic training, and they were then asked take photos with a theme in mind – “My London.”
Out of 100 distributed cameras, 80 were returned, yielding about 2,500 photos. 20 were then chosen by judges from Fujifilm, the London Photo Festival, Christie’s, Amateur Photographer and Homeless Link. There is even a Kickstarter campaign with a goal in mind – to turn some of the photos into a 2016 calendar.
“All the money raised goes back into the project,” Cafe Art said, “either to pay for the printing of the photographs and calendar, rewarding the winning photographers, buying art materials for art groups affected by homelessness or helping individuals attend art courses.”
